There was enough snow on the ground to really play with yesterday and E was excited to do it, grabbing handfuls off the ground and car windows while playing with his friend. As always happens though, the enthusiam wore off and the cold set in. When he got too cold and was ready to leave, E told me "I wish I could play with the snow inside."
Since E, Ryan and Lily are usually tired and sometimes unhappy on the way to school, especially on Mondays, I started playing some of their favorite songs each morning to cheer them up a bit. In case you're wondering, they've heard these songs from various sources: a movie, TV show or music that Mom or Dad listen to.
Their current favorites:
E: Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano. This song perfectly exemplifies E's personality.
Ryan: New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. Ryan seems to find Sinatra's voice very soothing.
Lily: Le Freak by Chic (or as Lily says "Weak out!")
I've received numerous requests to post a picture of my wife and I (Mommy and Daddy in all of the stories), so here is our best picture, from our wedding day more than 11 years ago. The most beautiful girl in the world...and me.
E: Daddy, I understand what selfish means. Me: OK, what does it mean? E: It's like if you tell someone you're going to give them 10,000 dollars for all their money and you just take all their money. Me: Uh...Not really... E: OK, well, what if the 10,000 you gave them was fake money?
Lily brought home something she made at school (a toilet paper roll partially covered in aluminum foil, pictured.)
Mommy: This is so nice Lily! What is it? L: A lady bug! M: Umm...oh...it's...it's a really nice ladybug! E: (who was watching and listening, quietly turned to his Mom and said) I don't know. Maybe she's gone crazy.
I have three children: Ryan (12), Ethan (9) and Lily (6). One is autistic, one gifted and one adopted. This is a record of some of the amazing things they say and do. I try to stop and look around at least once a day.
