I have posted 15 pieces of art by E and Lily on the blog, but none by Ryan, who usually crumples or deletes his work prior to anyone seeing it.
As with most other things, Ryan was always behind the "normal" age progression for drawing . I remember he would try to draw Ernie from Sesame Street (an early favorite) and quickly hand the crayon back to me or crumple up the paper within a few moments.
It always seemed like he was saying "you can do it better, so you need to do it."
(Lily and E, on the other hand, drew on EVERYTHING. The walls, the furniture, toys...and me.)
Even today, when Ryan doodles on the iPad and I try to look at it or save it, he quickly deletes. I'm not sure if he's embarrassed about how it looks or shy about expressing himself artistically, but he's never really wanted to share his art work.
A few days ago, though, and I'm not sure why, he handed this picture to his Mom, which we had not seen him drawn, and told her to "put this on my blog." (That's you, peeps!) So here it is...Ryan's Kung-Fu Panda.
Is he finally proud of his work? Does he want to make sure his work is included with his siblings? Does he want to read all your nice comments?
I’d love to write something more profound, but I don’t know...perhaps all of the above.
